One of our town's longest-running, crowd-sourcing traditions is open mic night at Common Grounds. I'm guessing a pretty big chunk of our WacoFork audience has at one point or another seen their friends perform either inside or outside at Common Grounds on open mic night.
It's good, solid, mid-week fun.
And it's getting a boost beginning this semester as Common Grounds is adding a featured artist component. It will still be an open sign-up deal, but if you sign up, you will essentially be signing up to "open" for the featured artist.
It starts Wednesday night with Austin band Canaries In The Coal Mine. The open mic show runs from 8:30 to 11 each Wednesday, so plan to play or just show up and listen to part or all of it.
Other open mic featured artists scheduled in the next couople of months include Savion Wright, Art Wellborn, Fly Sekrataries, Jameson McGregor and Jordan Bellamy. For a completed schedule of open mic featured artists and other Common Grounds events click here.
