The Baylor campus area has a brand new option for soup, sandwiches, salad and froyo as of today.
Yazzi's Express Cafe & Frozen Yogurt quietly opened for business in the small shopping center at the corner of 5th and Bagby. Development manager Rusty Spindel told us Yazzi's plans to expand throughout the region to college campuses, but this is the first one.
Spindel also said Yazzi's will offer delivery in the near future, but for now the new staff is attempting to establish a routine. He said delivery will likely start at the beginning of 2013.
One of Yazzi's featured items is The Mulk, named for Baylor Lady Bears coach Kim Mulkey. Spindel offered us a Mulk for tasting. It's a tart yogurt topped with strawberries, grapes, bananas, honey and granola. And, yes, it's Mulkey's froyo of choice.
Yazzi's specialty sandwiches included several of the toasted meat-and-cheese variety, a muffaletta and grilled cheese.
