Quaker Steak & Lube officially opened its doors this afternoon and has a festive grand-opening party set for tonight. My advice — if you don't already have trip to The Lube scheduled — is to drop what you're doing and head over for some wings and beer. Or pretzels and beer. Or Philly cheesesteaks and beer.
Or just beer.
Another bit of advice for when you do head that way is to turn in to Legends Crossing at the entrance near Chuy's, then take your first left. That road will take you to the Quaker Steak & Lube parking lot.
Because it's my job to be in the know about local restaurants, I made it to The Lube almost as soon as they opened. My buddy Brett and I split a bucket of wings — half Louisiana Licker and half haut parm — and pretzels with Guinness beer cheese. Delicious.
While I was there I spoke with marketing manager Kevin Huffines, who told me there will be live music on the patio tonight. Sounds like fun to me.
I also spoke with general manager Shawn Dunham and service manager Tanisha Morrow, all of whom were excited to finally be serving customers after months of planning the Quaker Steak & Lube opening.
Quaker Steak & Lube is a Pennsylvania-based restaurant chain that features a motorsports theme. But don't worry, there's plenty of football and baseball on the many televisions situated around the dining room and Brick Yard Bar.
This is the first The Lube location in Texas, so let's show them that Waco was the right place to land.
