The Quaker Steak & Lube team has been spinning its wheels, revving up for an eventful first month (okay, I'll stop using car puns).
Seriously, though, I'm impressed by the plans in place to make the new restaurant party central for watching a ball game or just enjoying dinner. In case you're wondering, Quaker Steak & Lube is the new restaurant going up at Legends Crossing near Hillcrest Hospital and they're set to open on the evening of Sept. 12.
People keep asking me about the new building at Legends Crossing and I've been referring them to blogs I've written. If you're getting similar questions, please do the same. Together we'll spread the word.
I've seen a few restaurant openings in the year or so since we launched WacoFork, but I've yet to see an opening group put as much into creating atmosphere as this one.
Including its pre-opening events, Quaker Steak & Lube has 16 events on the calendar during its first month. Among the events on the busy schedule, The Lube will host a grand opening on Sept. 12, Baylor Football kickoff parties on the weekends of the Bears' Sept. 15 and 22 home games, car cruises every Sunday night, Monday Night Football parties every Monday night and karaoke on two Friday nights (Sept. 14 and 28).
All of those parties will feature nightly food and drink specials. Here's the rundown:
Sunday: $14 domestic Lube Tubes (a several-gallon deep tube of beer with its own tap).
Monday: Kids eat free from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; $4 margaritas
Tuesday: All you can eat wings with nacho bar; $12 domestic Lube Tubes
Wednesday: $6.99 Bikin' Burger to go along with weekly Bike Night.
Thursday: 60-cent breaded boneless wings.
Friday: $4 off full rack of ribs; $5 bar jars.
Saturday: Bear Bones Combo — $2 off custom built combos; $4 domestic tankers
