The WacoFork wire notified us that Chili's Too on the Baylor campus will be shutting down after business on Friday.
This is the Chili's location in the parking garage which the kids call the Garage Mahal.
A faculty and staff announcements memo suggested that other dining options recently opened on the Baylor campus made it difficult for the Chili's Too to survive.
"The restaurant's closure comes as a result of continued growth and movement of retail brands across campus and declining participation by its patrons," the memo said. "At this time the University is evaluating how the space will be utilized in the future."
Part of me feels like this is a shame as I've had some fun times as well as productive lunch meetings at the Chili's Too. However, I sort of understand because it's been a while since anyone said to me, "how about Chili's Too?" And I haven't suggested it either.
So there you go.
The Starbucks will remain open and the memo said it will expand its menu. Maybe they can make the entire space a Starbucks and, along with the Moody Library Starbucks, Baylor can claim two of the world's largest Starbucks locations.
Just a thought.
