For the past couple of months, I've let news of the developing Freebirds location sit on the back burner.
I feel like many of our town's restaurant fans know this is happening and I'm not one to go after cheap blog hits just by blurting the word "Freebirds" once or twice a week.
But the Waco Freebirds is beginning to rise out of the pavement and that's newsworthy. Earlier this year, they told me the middle of September (it doesn't get any more middle than September 15) is the targeted opening date. The progress of the construction fills me with confidence that this will come off according to schedule.
I have a call in to the Freebirds office for some more fresh information. For now, the photograph of the rise of Waco Freebirds will have to suffice.
One more bite: My most pressing question at the moment is "What's with those red and white streamer/flags squaring off a section of the adjacent parking lot?"
