The WacoFork wire alerted me this week that the Mexicano Bar & Grill at Central Texas Marketplace would be opening this week.
Close but no cigar.
Waco's newest Mexican restaurant will have a grand opening on May 31 complete with Mariachi music.
The sign for the new restaurant has been in place for months, making this opening a little anticlimactic. Honestly, I'm having a hard time getting excited about it since there's already two other Mexican restaurants within a solidly struck 5-wood of this one (Reader's note: that's a golf reference. It literally means about 150-200 yards, or at least that's how far I hit a 5-wood. Of course, I'm using hyperbole because the other two Mexican restaurants are at least 500 yards away).
Also, there are three Mexican food restaurants on Valley Mills that opened in the last year and I'm yet to have dined at any of them.
Still, Mexicano Bar & Grill is in my daily route to drink my morning coffee and eat my morning bagel, so I suppose the likelihood of my dining there pretty soon is improved by that.
You May still have a chance to win
There's a few days left in May for anyone interested in a chance to win $25 to the restaurant of his or her choice. Remember this? We're going to give away a $25 gift card to a lucky reviewer as every review written earns an entry. As an added twist, a review of a restaurant that hasn't been reviewed previously earns that reviewer a bonus entry.
So get them in. Oh by the way, from reading this months reviews so far, it's going to be an entertaining Month In Reviews.
