It's funny how this WacoFork wire thing works.
Because I'm not a good or diligent enough reporter to come up with all of this stuff on my own. I rely on tweets and Facebook posts and restaurant managers and just plain and simple word of mouth to fuel this blog.
Just last week, I road tripped to Arlington for Rangers Opening Day with a group of friends whom I hang out with about twice a year. Having friends like that is a valuable thing because they run in different circles than me, so they have information that's fresh to me. And that's another way in which the WacoFork wire works.
That's how I learned at least three things that I've incorporated into the site this week, not the least of which was the ever-expanding George's restaurant in Hewitt's West Rock Center.
George's recently added another room, boosting their seating capacity in Hewitt to about 400, manager Kevin Chirafis tole me. He said the Hewitt George's has expanded about as far as it can at this point.
But think about that for a minute — 400 capacity. That means George's won't be turning many people away, keeping them out of Yogi Berra range ("Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded").
Chirafis also informed me that George's Hewitt began serving breakfast on Thursday morning and will be doing so on Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings. I sense a Hewitt George's Fried-day blog happening in the near future.
So see how the WacoFork wire worked? I took a nugget of info from a casual conversation on the way to a baseball game, followed it and it led to an even more interesting bit of restaurant news to pass along to WacoFork land.
So thanks, WacoFork wire, keep it coming.
