We're happy to be teaming with Baylor Student Government on their initiative called Passport To Waco, which kicked off last week.
If you're a Baylor student, you should get your hands on one of these things. It's kind of like an extended scavenger hunt that's kind of easy and there's a guaranteed prize.
Instructions, as printed on the inside cover of the Passport are as follows:
"When you visit each of the local businesses listed in this Passport book, make sure to ask the business for a stamp!
"If you collect a stamp for each of the businesses listed in this Passport book, you will receive a small prize at the end of the semester (valued around $10.00).
"Toward the end of the semester, you will be able to turn in your completed Passport to Baylor Student Government members to receive your prize."
See, easy and fun.
The idea is to get Baylor students out of the Baylor bubble and around town rubbing shoulders with the rest of us.
If you know a Baylor student, encourage them to pick up a Passport. If you're not a Baylor student and you don't know a Baylor student then, I don't know, just be nice to them when you see them around town, especially if they have a Passport.
The odds be ever in your favor
Remember, we're going to give away a $50 restaurant gift certificate to someone next week. We're putting all of the reviews written in the month of March into a hat and pick one. The person whose name is drawn will get to pick the restaurant where they want 50 bucks worth of dining.
As of Tuesday morning, there have been about a dozen reviews written so far this month so your odds are outstanding at this point.
New Mexican food restaurant still waiting on deck
As I drove to my usual coffee spot this morning, I noticed the Mexicano Grill & Bar Taqueria pretty much appeared the same as the last time I drove past for my morning coffee about two weeks ago. Which is to say, it's not open yet.
In case anyone out there is not satisfied with the number of Mexican food restaurants in our town and can't wait for this one to open, rest easy because I'm on the case. I'll pass along info on this new joint when I have it.
