As I wrote on Monday, summer is an excellent time to get to know new folks, especially because by this time the people who are around are going to be the ones who are around for the next school year.
At least that's how things kind of work in my circles. We live in a college town, so the school year has a huge impact on people coming and going from Waco. To that end, I had lunch with University Baptist Church's Tuesday dives group, which picks a different Waco original place for lunch each Tuesday.
This Tuesday they picked Captain Billy Whizzbang's, which is one my favorites and just happens to also be one of our enhanced listers.
Interestingly, the Baylor crowd seems to be more familiar with the burgers at DUBL-R, Cafe Homestead and even Kitok's, so many of my friends from UBC were dining at Captain Billy's for the first time.
It received rave reviews.
I personally chose a double-meat hamburger, as opposed to a cheeseburger. I'm making some attempts to make healthier dining choices, but all I could do in that effort on Tuesday was to leave off cheese. However, I did order my burger on Captain Billy's jalapeño cheese bun. So you be the judge.
If the photos and descriptions in this blog make you crave a Captain Billy's burger, remember that they're open until 8 p.m. on weekdays, so you have a chance to grab one for dinner.
