The opening of BJ's Brewhouse stirred the pot when it came to reviews this month. Between the restaurant's rehearsal nights and a very busy first few weeks, a whole bunch of folks in WacoFork land made it in and out of the new joint.
We had a few reviews of BJ's along with interesting reading on a variety of restaurants in June. Instead of a top 10, I pulled out the most compelling lines of the month.
Taking down take out curry
"I pretty much drink the sauce from the to-go container when the chicken and peppers are all gone."
Legit props
"I moved here from San Francisco and if this place was in San Francisco I would still be very pleased with it and go there often."
Friendly reminder on behalf of the good people who bring us our food
"Oh and don't forget to tip your waitress folks!"
Speaking of tips
"It's not on the menu, but did you know you can order the Korean sides separately?"
Two sides to every story
POINT: "In the end, frantic calls to the rest of the family, and on the hunt for another restaurant on a holiday, at the last minute, with two young ones in tow. … We called ahead because it was my first Fathers Day, and I didn't want our kids waiting more than an hour for a table. The unapologetic manager and hostess made sure I'll never be coming back."
COUNTERPOINT: "We had to wait a while for our food which is understandable due to the size of the crowd on opening night. The manager came over to check on us several times during our wait and even brought out complimentary salads and a sample of one of their specialty drinks while we waited for our entrees. I know some people don't want to wait or mess with crowds, but BJ's did everything they could to make our experience a great one."
And finally, ninjacoco's parting shot
"Don't fear the bubble. Get your butt to Shorty's and nom some absolutely delicious pizza."
