As of Thursday afternoon, I'd eaten three different types of Asian food in three days — Japanese on Tuesday at Fuji, Thai on Wednesday at Bangkok Royal and Korean on Thursday at Kitok.
And because I'm playing golf in the Kyle Lake Foundation Golf Tournament on Friday, I needed to complete my Tour of Asia on Thursday evening with a stop in Vietnam.
I had options. Waco has a good selection of Vietnamese food with Clay Pot near Baylor and Pho Cafe Saigon in China Spring. But because I wanted kind of a light, chill dinner, I chose Club Sandwich.
Let me qualify that last statement. A person can get stuffed at Club Sandwich, and eventually I did for reasons I'll explain in a moment. That's what I meant by light. By chill, I meant that Club Sandwich has a singularly relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is located in the Waco Outreach Foundation community center on 4th Street just on the I-35 side of downtown. So it sort of feels like a snack bar, but it's a legit and crave-able restaurant.
Club Sandwich also offers more than one type of Asian food, Korean tacos and a Vietnamese banh mi sandwich, on its menu. Because I needed to complete the Tour of Asia in Waco with Vietnamese, I went for the banh mi sandwich.
Was it any good? Well, I ate it before I remembered to take a picture of it for this blog. So what did I do? I ordered another one in order to get a picture, and then I ate that one too. So, yeah, it was good.
And so much for a light dinner.
