Happy Valentine's Day to everyone with big plans today. We hope you'll check out our Valentine's playbook blog to help make/augment your agenda.
As for me, it's Thursday, but not just any Thursday. I've been looking forward to Feb. 14 for a while because my friends in the band Bobby Jealousy are having an album release party in Austin this evening. So I'll be headed down there for that. And that's not just me bragging about having cool plans for tonight. There's a Waco tie-in.
Bobby Jealousy will be headlining the music portion of the Waco Independent Media Expo coming up in early March.
On March 6 and 7, a group called Waco Arts Media is putting on the event, which will feature independent films on March 6 at The Dancing Bear Pub and music on March 7 at Common Grounds.
As stated, Bobby Jealousy will bat clean-up for the concert, but there are seven other bands in the lineup. My good buddy Brian Patterson, who is also in Bobby Jealousy, will play a set as will local favorite O, Loveland. Also appearing will be Five & Dime, Johnny's Body, Hydra Melody, Kat Dixon and Andrew Sullivan.
So far the Waco Arts Media website lists just one film slated for the film portion of the two-day event — "Watch the Skies" by Tyler Hiott, Benjamin Davis and Jonathan Kirby — but there are other signed up that haven't been added to the site yet. I spoke with event co-organizer Mackenzie Wilson on Wednesday night and she enthusiastically described several films that are in plus a couple of enticing candidates.
Check out the WIME tickets page for detailed info on how to attend.
