WacoFork Club Non-Profit Partners - Caritas of Waco

Along with great local restaurants that offer awesome discounts to WacoFork Club members, we are also partnering with some fantastic local non-profit organizations to help raise awareness about these organizations and raise much needed funds. For each WacoFork Club membership that is purchased, we will donate $10 to one of our non-profit partners.

As with our restaurants, we are announcing our non-profit partners 1-by-1 this week. First up is Caritas of Waco.

Caritas of Waco is a non-profit charity organization founded in 1967 by the Austin Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church, but has been an independent ecumenical agency since 1979. The Caritas mission is “to provide urgent support to people in need in our community.” This support is provided in various forms such as food, clothing, household items, utility assistance, rental assistance, prescription medication assistance, transportation assistance and Case Management assistance for those wanting to become more self-sufficient. Assistance is available to everyone, regardless of race, age, sex, ethnicity or location.

Caritas is supported by various businesses, individuals, charitable foundations, faith, civic and service organizations. Support is offered through donation of funds, non-perishable food items and useable household items including clothing that can be provided to people in need without charge or sold through a Caritas thrift store. Caritas relies heavily on the community for volunteers, without whom Caritas could not be a fully functioning organization.
