Burger Time: In-N-Out or Whataburger?

Burger Time: In-N-Out or Whataburger?

Would you rather grab a burger at Whataburger or In-N-Out?

I honestly don't know if the answer to this question seems obvious and, if it does, which way it seems obvious. I do know that once upon a time I went with friends to a Rangers game and we had a rather heated friendly argument about which was better after we decided to stop at In-N-Out.

Anyway, this is going to be more of a pressing question as In-N-Out is under construction at I-35 and 5th Street. In the meantime, a new Whataburger will be opening next week on Valley Mills. I was prompted to write this blog because I thought I saw on social media that the new Whataburger was opening on Thursday.

So I stopped by the existing Whataburger on Valley Mills to grab a burger and ask. The staff there told me that Whataburger will close on Sunday or Monday and the new one will open on July 23.

This begs the question: what the advantage of a new Whataburger? For me personally, it's difficult to answer this question as the new location will be farther from my house. It's going to be two doors down from Chipotle, which isn't that far from me, but still like four times farther away. Not to be narcissitic about it, just trying to illustrate how one Whataburger might be generally the same as the next. However, I can see that new digs might mean a better experience. The dining room will likely be sleek and extra comfortable. Not sure the food will be better, but on the other hand I think the Whataburger in Hewitt has the best food of all the Whataburgers in town and it's the newest.

Am I crazy or has anyone else noticed this?

As for In-N-Out, we'll have updates forthcoming on how soon it will be here.

One more bite: While working recon, I cruised by the site where Twisted Root is supposedly coming to town. It's at University Parks and I-35 in the old Texas Playhouse. I heard recently that the real estate agency had changed, but nothing much had changed. I was surprised to see there was some initial construction happening. I know this isn't a ton of info, but we'll see what we can do.
