Louisiana-style lands on La Salle

There's a new spot for catfish and chicken near Baylor as Louisiana Catfish & Chicken opened on La Salle in January. I stopped in for info, not lunch, on Monday, but it smelled great and I'll stop in again soon for eats.

My friend Kaley Eggers alerted me to the presence of this new joint. She was at the Heart of Texas Fair & Rodeo back in the fall when she and some friends came across these folks at a booth. They dined and visited and learned that there would soon be a Louisiana catfish place opening in Waco.

So Kaley passed on the tip to me when she found out they had opened. That's the WacoFork wire working.

When I went in today, a gentleman in front of me in line was already on a return visit. He ordered ahead of me and raved to the cashier and then to me about how much he loved it. That's a good sign.

The Louisiana Catfish & Chicken menu offers both the basic and slightly more exotic. Yeah, you can get fried chicken of your choice and you can get wings. You can get as many catfish fillets as you desire. But you can also get a gator basket, a pork chop basket, a link basket or a shrimp basket.

Sides include everything you would expect — fries, coleslaw, fried okra, potato salad and onion rings.

As stated, I haven't dined there yet. Beat me to it and be the first to review Louisiana Catfish & Chicken.
