If you've driven around town lately there is one thing you are bound to notice: Waco is UNDER CONSTRUCTION. Right now all over downtown, the I35 corridor, and Valley Mills are scaffolding, aerial lifts, demolition equipment and other equipment for building on a scale that hasn't been seen in Waco in decades, if ever.
We took a drive around town and took a few pictures, and there were many more available. Several of the places being built are 2nd or 3rd locations of existing businesses in town, like Panera Bread, Raising Canes, and Whataburger-Baylor being rebuilt. Others like Old Chicago Pizza and Dunkin' Donuts will be new entries in the growing Waco market.
Whataburger wasted no time after getting their rebuild plans and demolition permit approved. The store was here today, gone tomorrow and has progressed even beyond this picture now moving dirt for the new foundation to be poured. They clearly want to be open again as soon as possible for the new school year.
The Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom is coming together nicely at the Central Texas Marketplace.
The new home for the Buffalo Wild Wings that is moving off of Franklin Ave is well under way, also at the Central Texas Marketplace
Raising Cane's on 8th St near the I35/Baylor Freddy's Steakburger is coming together nicely.
Panera's 2nd Location, across from Baylor just down from the new Chick-fil-a, on the 700 block of the I35 access road.
On Valley Mill's Dr, next to the Burger King at VM/Wooded Acre's the Dunkin Donuts appears to be nearing exterior completion
This is far from a comprehensive list, but it is clear that Waco will soon have more dining choice.
