Homestead Farm to Table returns and news of note

Cafe Homestead will be having their first large scale Farm to Table dinner in some time now on Saturday, Dec 19th with two sittings, 5:30PM and 7:30PM. The menu looks to be quite enticing with a starter of French Onion Soup, followed up by a Spinach Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette, a main cource of Roast Beef Tenderloin with cranberry shallot glaze and sides of Roasted Red Peppers, Grilled Parmesan Broccoli. This will all be completed with a Pear Spice Cake. Reservations should be made by calling Cafe Homestead, cost is $68/plate(tax and gratuity not included).

While driving around town recently I noticed the old Bosque Blvd location that was formerly Cafe Cappuccino had a new sign and a lot of renovation happening. Not one to sit idle, I researched and found some more information about the incoming Moroso Wood Fired Pizzeria that will be located there in the first half of 2016. After a chat with the owner I can tell there is a lot of love and attention going into the entire restaurant, and will gladly update a more firm opening date is established. They are currently having the hand made wood fired oven built and are offering pictorial updates of the process of the build and the remodel of the building at their Facebook site, Moroso Wood Fired Pizzeria. I am looking forward to this as a good sit down location with real wood fired pizza that offers traditional ingredients and a good atmosphere is something I've really missed since being in Waco.

I was informed of a new health and nutrition store, Impact Nutrition, just recently opened offering shakes and smoothies. All the shakes and smoothies are diabetic friendly and have a low-glycemic impact. I had the peanut butter crème and it tasted like Capt'n Crunch cereal and milk had be frozen and blended up, thoroughly enjoyable with no aftertaste or dry mouth/bitterness like some nutrition shakes and supplements. A friend came along with me and tried the chocolate peanut butter and also thought it tasted like cereal frozen then blended into a shake, but more akin to Reese's Peanut Butter Cup cereal. On offer are a full selection of natural fruit smoothies and shakes starting at $5, which I found to be a great price for the quality. Impact Nutrition stocks a good selection of health supplements, protein snacks, workout recovery and prep supplies. Also available is a delivery option on the shakes so you can have them brought to you. Their location is close to the Baylor, offers free wifi, and with reasonable pricing make it a nice post workout or afternoon snack stop or even a meal replacement.
