There's a party coming down, y'all.
This Pints in the Park deal on May 9 at Brazos Park East has my undivided attention, mostly because of the buzz it's already created on social media.
I just checked its Facebook page and it has 1,400 likes, which to me is a big number for a first-ever event.
It's easy to see why it has people liking it. Let's start with the first word in the event. The promoters are bringing in some top-notch breweries to offer samples of their beer for those who purchase the $30 Crafts and Concert pass. The breweries include Austin Beer Works, Brooklyn Brewery, Cedar Creek Brewery, Deschutes, Green Flash Brewing Co., Live Oak, Martin House, Oasis, Oskar Blues and Real Ale.
And, oh my goodness, I just looked at the list of barbecue vendors that will be selling their BBQ and all that that implies. Check it out here.
You could stop there and have a fun afternoon/evening. But don't stop there because there will be music. And it's not gonna be some guy quietly playing folk songs on his acoustic guitar at the farmer's market. It's going to be four-on-the-floor Texas rockabilly when Reverend Horton Heat hits the stage as the headliner. Before The Reverend, Billy Joe Shaver and Barelands will provide the entertainment and, for me, all three bands are "shut up, I'm trying to listen" quality.
I realize, this probably reads like we're being paid to promote this event. We're not. I'm just saying it looks like a heck of a good time.
