Something happened at lunch today that I wanted to pass along just because it was an example of people that work at a restaurant going above and beyond, or at least a job well done.
Cory, Carly, Miles and I went to Double Dave's. I got there first and ordered a buffet and a drink. The gentleman at the register asked if there was any kind of pizza I would like them to make. That's probably something they ask customers on a regular basis when they have time in the kitchen to do so. I wanted to just move along and say "Nah, I'm sure I'll find something I like."
But I paused for a second. I think it was because the server was so sincere in the offer. I gave it a little bit of thought and asked for a pizza with Italian sausage and jalapeƱos. He asked if I wanted it on deep dish, hand-tossed or thin-and-crispy crust. I went for thin-and-crispy.
I waited for the rest of the group to get there, and then grabbed a couple of pieces off the buffet. Before I began my second slice of pizza, a server came over with an Italian-sausage-and-jalapeƱos pizza that was clearly fresh from the oven. He let me get the first couple of pieces from the fresh pie before putting it with the others on the buffet.
That, to me, is outstanding customer service and worthy of taking the time to blog about it.
Thanks, Double Dave's.
