I received a heads up over the weekend the some of you high-end WacoFork foodies will want to make an effort to attend.
Sarah Blocker from 135 Prime alerted me to the Scot Dinner the restaurant will be hosing next month.
The 135 Prime Scotch Dinner will be Feb. 17. We don't have an exact time yet, but we'll pass that along soon. We also don't have an exact menu or price, but we do know there will be five whiskies offered for sampling and paired with menu items, which will probably involve steak, and the event will be hosted by "Whiskey Ambassador" Scott Mauldin. I'm guessing the price will be in the $75-$125 per person range.
Now, I realize there are two distinct groups of people out there. There's a group that doesn't drink whiskey neat and/or doesn't drop $100 on dinner. This event isn't for that group, obviously. However, the other group that does drink whiskey and treats themselves to upscale dinners from time to time will be all over this deal.
I'm in the second group and if Baylor's men's basketball team falls out of the top 25 for some unforeseen reason, I'll be at this dinner. (I realize that doesn't make any sense. If you see me around town, feel free to ask why there's a correlation.)
About a year ago, 135 Prime hosted a similar event featuring Garrison Brothers Bourbon. I went and it was a top-5 culinary event of the year for me.
One more bite: Seating at the Scotch Dinner will be limited, so to reserve your seat call 135 Prime at 254-666-3100.
