I have a couple of issues/problems today and I would like your advising, WacoFork friends (they're not really problems, they're more like petty complaints but I am appealing for your sympathy or judgement, whichever you feel applies).
My first issue is that I've come to the realization that I don't want what's good for me and I can prove this with a simple illustration involving froyo and milkshakes.
I very much enjoy froyo. I like that I can put fruit and almonds on it and feel really good about eating it. Last Friday, I had froyo for lunch and then went out to the golf course and set a personal record for birdies in a round. That's synergy in action, baby. I also like that I can put crumbles of Reese's peanut butter cups and pecans on it and still feel pretty good about it. Froyo is the dessert equivalent of doing sit-ups (feel free to start judging me based on that last statement).
But here's how I know I inherently want what's bad for me: as much as I like froyo, I never crave it and instead constantly crave milkshakes. I love cookies-and-cream milkshakes so much that I've decided I'm willing to be a little fatter than I would like in order to keep having them. That's Zen in action, baby.
But I still want to know what you, WacoFork friends, believe is the best froyo place in town. Whatta you think?
And that leads me to my next issue/problem which is not really a problem but more of a talking point: Locals Love Us drives me crazy.
I've observed that three froyo restaurants in town display Locals Love Us winner decals in their windows (U-Swirl and two 3 Spoons locations), while Oso's Oh So Good Frozen Yogurt displays a "Find us on Locals Love Us" decal. I'm not sure why Oso's didn't get one of the "winner" decals particularly since Oso's has coupons available on the Locals Love Us site and it's the only one of the places I've mentioned so far that is truly local. I can make a strong argument for Oso's being the best froyo in town. It definitely has the coolest location, it's where I had my pre-golf froyo on Friday and it offers waffle bowls.
I think Locals Love Us is just another Yellow Pages, but their strategy is to be the advertising equivalent of the youth soccer league that gives every participant a trophy.
So Locals Love Us, as much as I'm rolling my eyes at you, I'd like to point out that you haven't given Yo Dreams a trophy yet. They serve froyo so that must qualify them for a Locals Love Us award.
Thanks for reading this rant and feel free to take issue with any part of it. Locals Love Us, if you would like to send me hate mail, I can be reached at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Also, I want to know why WacoFork hasn't received a Locals Love Us winner award for being the best restaurant directory in town.
