I was riding to Dave's Burger Barn with my buddy Wes Kitten today. I was thinking we were on the way to see if Wes could conquer the Zipper Ripper challenge.
But when I asked him if he'd done anything to specifically prepare for it, he just laughed. He had no intention of taking the Zipper Ripper challenge. He just wanted a good burger.
To be honest, I was relieved. I had a fantastic weekend. So fantastic that I knew I needed to get back on the exercising-and-eating-semi-healthy train this week. The last thing I wanted was to be any part of a Zipper Ripper challenge.
Not that I ate too healthy. I want to think of a jalapeƱo cheeseburger as healthy in some sense of the word. Maybe there's some part of me that does think that way, but the more reasonable parts of my brain understand that it's not.
The picture with this blog isn't the most aethetically pleasing portrait of food that we've ever posted. But it's functional in that it shows the thing that lit up my lunch. I love that Dave's uses fresh, kelly green jalapeƱos on its burgers, as you can see in this bite. They taste great and bring so much more kick. Love 'em.
At Dave's, the projection screen showed SportsCenter at lunchtime today, driving lots of sports talk out our table as Wes and I were joined by our friends Tye Barrett and Josh Blake. I'm gonna have to watch a game at Dave's on some summer night coming up because I get the feeling it might be a bit of a hidden gem for sports watching. More on that to follow.
