Sometimes on Fried-day, a little decadence comes into play. Like in the form of chicken fried steak for breakfast or a crazy wing sandwich and maybe one day I'll write about the greatness of the Carolina pork it at Frank in Austin.
But today called for a little more strategy as two factors dictated my lunch plans. My air conditioner began leaking water sometime this week. I noticed it last night when I got home from Boston (that's right, I skipped off to Boston without any of you noticing this week). And an iffy air conditioner is nothing to procrastinate about, so I called the AC folks first thing this morning. That meant staying close to the house in case they stopped by.
The other factor was my afternoon appointment with my trainer, who would take great pleasure in making me re-up a chicken fried steak and french fries if that's what I chose to down for lunch.
Close to home and semi-light, then. Enter Pei Wei take-out and my personal favorite from that fine establishment — Thai dynamite.
Now, dear reader, I know what you're probably wondering. How could a dish called Thai dynamite seem like the semi-light choice before a grueling workout? It sounds a little explosive, doesn't it?
Well, Thai dynamite is neither heavy nor very spicy. It's actually more tangy than spicy, but calling it Thai tangamite would be nonsense.
As we speak, the gentleman from Lochridge-Priest is finishing up my AC repair. It turns out it was just a little clogged as my filter had gotten jacked up (I also replaced my AC filter in a timely fashion, so grown-up points for that). And I feel like I consumed a reasonable lunch. We'll see what my trainer thinks.
I promise I'll confess it if the Thai dynamite blows up on the gym floor.
