Today will end with an encore.
Not for me. Though I do intend to be pretty fantastic today. Today will, for me anyway, near its conclusion with the crowd at The Drum in Austin calling for the Black Keys to play an encore.
Between now and then, I'm going to need energy, so I began my day with breakfast at Taqueria Mi Jalisco, where I ordered huevos rancheros.
That's the great thing about this gig. It forces me to do something I need to do anyway, which is eat breakfast on a busy day. And if green sauce isn't rocket fuel, then I don't know anything about rocket fuel (Reader's note: I don't know anything about rocket fuel).
There are plenty of places in town to get started on a good Mexican breakfast. Today I chose Taqueria Mi Jalisco on New Road because it fit in nicely with my route from my house to Starbucks and then to Cottonwood Creek Golf Course.
After I post this blog, I will be on my way to the Waco Restaurant Association golf tournament at Cottonwood, where I hope to give away some T-shirts and possibly help someone make a hole-in-one.
Then it's off to Austin to see the Arctic Monkeys and Black Keys with my buddy Brian Patterson, whom I never hesitate to name drop in this blog.
One more bite: I have to credit another buddy, Brett Jameson, for picking up the tickets to tonight's show. Incidentally, Jameson is currently working on a project that will enhance to coffee drinking in our town. More news on that as it becomes available.
