I've been having a pretty specific food craving of late.
On the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, my dad and I went to the butcher in my parents' hometown. My dad turned me loose to pick out a few items to put on their new outdoor kitchen grill for dinner. Along with chicken sausage and stuffed pork chops, I selected bacon-wrapped chicken. The butcher asked if we wanted spicy or regular. Spicy, obviously.
When I bragged about the bacon-wrapped chicken, which contained a jalapeño and cheese in the middle, my friends have inquired "You mean like a crazy wing?"
Well, yeah, like a George's crazy wing. So since I've been craving that specific thing, I insisted a couple of friends have lunch with me at the Hewitt George's new patio, which opened earlier this month.
My buddy Jon Davis showed up to support the WacoFork presentation at the Waco Social Media Breakfast on Tuesday morning. So we decided to meet up again for lunch at the Hewitt George's, mostly because I wanted to see the new covered patio.
As it happened, my yard man, Giles Rudolph, showed up at my house a few minutes before I headed out from my house. I know from eating Bush's chicken with Rudolph that he likes a jalapeño with his chicken, so I figured he would be down for some crazy wings as well.
If you haven't had a crazy wing, treat yourself to the boneless chicken wing wrapped around a jalapeño and cheese and wrapped in bacon.
I was right, too. Rudolph dug it.
Davis went with the smokehouse burger and declared the burger, with grilled onions and swiss cheese, his new favorite at George's.
By the way, the patio is great. It's going to be especially nice on mild late-fall and winter nights. It includes a fire place in the middle and several televisions, good for watching bowl games, dispersed through the patio.
