Because it's fall and I like to give advice, I'm going to tell you right here and now a good way to know that it's fall in Waco and feel happiness in your heart because of that.
Tonight, after you've eaten dinner, whether it be at home or at one of Waco's delicious dining establishments, treat yourself to pumpkin frozen yogurt on the porch at Oso's Oh So Good Yogurt.
That's all I need to write today. I can't make it any more simple for you people. You want me to give you happiness?
Well, I can't promise you anything, but I'm betting that if you eat pumpkin froyo on the porch at Oso's tonight, you're going to feel at least a little better about everything else that happened on this Monday.
It just occurred to me that some of you might say, "But, Chad, the Rangers are in the World Series and in order to do what you suggest, we might have to miss some of the game." That's fair. But allow me to retort.
Take it from a longtime sportswriter: baseball games are long. No matter where you live in McLennan County, a venture to Oso's and back home again would only cause you to miss at most an inning and a half. Seriously, have you watched any baseball? Depending on whether you're a man or a woman, you have time to shine your boots or paint your fingernails BETWEEN EVERY PITCH! During a four-hour baseball game, the broadcast consist of no less than 30 minutes of footage of the non-expression on either team's manager's face, and that's not even counting the 20 minutes of coverage of Rangers' manager Ron Washington's histrionics every time a Ranger gets an extra-base hit.
Please don't misunderstand me. I'll be watching dang near every pitch. I can't tell you how glad I am that watching the Rangers in the World Series is becoming an autumn tradition around here.
In fact, I'm starting to get why they call it the Fall Classic. But trust me, a little pumpkin froyo from Oso's will make it even more classic.
