Can anyone tell me how the Baylor-TCU game came out?
Just kidding.
I carried our WacoFork banner out to tailgate on Friday afternoon and had a fantastic time pre-gaming with everyone. We had hot dogs and burgers and beverages. You should really come by and see us next time. Sadly, though, I didn't get to go into the Floyd Casey stadium as I had a game of my own to cover in McGregor.
So instead of watching a thrilling, 50-48, Baylor victory, I watched a less riveting 36-0 win by the McGregor Bulldogs over the Crawford Pirates. Oh well, my favorite football coach, Spike Dykes, once said "You've got to dance with the girl that brung ya," and high school football is the girl that brung me, so we danced again on Friday.
Even more sadly, I didn't make it out to join any celebrating as I had planned a trip to Lubbock on Saturday and needed to rest up. I'm sure folks were living it up at Cricket's and The Dancing Bear and Sam's On The Square and pretty much any place that served food and/or drink past 11 p.m. last night when Baylor had finally, officially held on for the win.
Anyway, that kind of night is what the "Football Weekend" blog should be about this season. Nights like Friday night are why we remember certain moments in the fall and why we love football.
