Gourmet Gallery classes fit foodie palate

If there are any foodies in Waco that don't know about or haven't been to Gourmet Gallery and Crav, then those folks really need to evaluate their self-label. Or perhaps they just need to go to Gourmet Gallery and get hip to our town's most specialized cooking shop.

The best option would be to attend one of Gourmet Gallery's cooking classes, which they offer on a regular basis — like eight in the next month! There's a free one tomorrow as they'll hold a holiday appetizer demonstration and sampling. Click here for the complete schedule.

Before I go on a little more about the cooking classes, I also want to emphasize Crav, which is a great option for those of us with busy schedules to eat well. Each week, Crav chef Juanita Barrientos prepares a new menu that she thoughtfully prepares and makes available for take-out. Here's this week's menu. Crav is located inside Gourmet Gallery in the Diamond Point Shopping Center at Valley Mills and Cobb.

Barrientos frequently takes the cooking class stage to share her culinary gifts. Her next outing in the chef rotation will be Oct. 18 when she demonstrates gluten-free baking.

I've posted a few videos of cooking classes that can be found on YouTube and every time I walk away wanting to cook more often.

On Thursday, I dropped by Gourment Gallery to take some photos of chefs Chris and Kristi DeCluitt as they taught a sauces class. Full disclosure, I had an overlapping appointment, but darn if the pleasant aroma didn't make me want to hang around for the whole class.
