News and notes: Boudain Shack getting wheels

According to The Boudain Shack's Facebook page, the Cajun restaurant is closing its doors in Robinson and moving downtown in the form of a food truck.

Since I enjoyed Boudain Shack the times I dined there, but rarely made it to Robinson, this is good news to me, since I'm regularly downtown.

The Cajun restaurant announced its plans at the end of 2014 and posted a picture of their new, red food truck earlier this month. The e.t.a. for rolling into downtown is late February or early March.

I've blogged about The Boudain Shack a couple of times and in going back through those pieces, I found this quote that tells you a lot about the owners:

"I also learned something unique about The Boudain Shack: they don't fry anything. Owner Angela Everett decided if she opened a restaurant, she wasn't going to fry anything. She thinks there's plenty of fried food in the world without contributing to it."

Also on Facebook, it looks like Barnett's Pub isn't gone after all.

Apparently the folks who were running it have bought it and will be reopening at the end of January. Or at least that's their aim according to the announcement on the FB. The news generated quite a bit of excitement as it has been shared more than 200 times and prompted more than 150 comments by Tuesday morning.
