Rusty planning newest taco party

We have early word that Rusty Taco is aiming for an early-May opening of its Valley Mills Drive location.

I received an email from Rusty Taco operations manager Casey Hawthorne saying they have a meeting later this week to hammer out further details. When we have them, so will you.

It's interesting that we first heard of Rusty coming to town a year ago, the first in a series of taco joints that announced their planned arrival. Rusty's location, in the shopping center where Mama Fu's and Smashburger moved in during 2013, was in the later phase of the development. Earlier this year, Jimmy John's opened up two doors down from where Rusty's will be, so there will soon be four restaurants in the center.

And, oh yeah, two prominent taco chains to open up in town in less than two months when it's all said and done.

I sampled Rusty Taco last spring, so when someone asked how it compares to Torchy's I was able to reply that it's the same type of animal. Folks are going to have their preferences. For people who live in the neighborhoods closer to the lake, Rusty is going to be more convenient, for sure.

That leaves Fuzzy's as the taco chain that said it was headed our way but has still yet to arrive. As stated earlier, when we have more details, so will you.
