But please, don't attempt to eat your Gut Pak while driving. I'm not sure it should be illegal to text while driving, but I know Gut Pak-ing and driving will cause wrecks.
I'm pretty sure this new Vitek's location is a great idea and an astute move by Vitek's, which has been expanding its presence in town. The Gut Pak Shak will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
When I worked at the Waco Tribune-Herald, I would bring a Gut Pak back to my cubicle from time to time. Without fail, the editor in chief, whose office was right behind my desk, would walk by and look at it longingly.
Also, I'm proud to say I introduced current Trib sports editor Brice Cherry to the Gut Pak. He looked at it and said "More like a give you a gut ... pack." That's what they refer to as the pot calling the kettle a cooking device.
I wonder, considering that the Gut Pak Shak would have been on my way to work at the Trib back then, if I would have ever eaten anything else. Maybe not. It's hard to beat chopped barbecue, homemade sausage, Fritos, beans, cheese, pickles, onions and jalapeños.
