The Gladsome Light to shine on Hippodrome stage

The Hippodrome's Grand Opening Week is just eight days away and we're particularly excited about the Gladsome Light show on Nov. 19.

Originally we told you The Digital Age was playing and they're friends of ours, but now another bunch of our friends has taken over the show. Tickets for The Glasome Light are $20 for the floor and $10 for the balcony and can be purchased here. Doors will open that night at 7.

I've enjoyed Gladsome Light frontman Tye Barrett's music for years and years, going back to the days when he was a young undergrad and used to do crazy open-mic stints at Common Grounds. Tye took over the music at University Baptist Church after David Crowder departed and I've been so impressed over the past several years with how well Barrett has upheld the standard of music at the church.

I'll be honest, I don't listen to much Christian music. Really only The Digital Age, The David Crowder Band and The Gladsome Light. (It kind of makes me feel like the Dos Equis guy, "I don't always listen to Christian music, but when I do, I prefer The Gladsome Light.) I also have a feeling, knowing the guys Barrett has on board for the show, that you'll hear a variety of music that night.

And I'll admit that this is a biased pitch because Tye is one of my closest friends. But that doesn't mean I'm wrong. I personally guarantee that if you put down $20 for a floor ticket to check out the brand spanking new Hippodrome, you'll hear some fantastic music and leave feeling as though you got a bargain for your entertainment dollar.

I'll be there, and if I'm wrong you can tell to my face.
